Obituary of Bernard "Bill" William BRIERLEY

October 27, 1929 – Calgary, Alberta
April 6, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta

Bernard “Bill” Brierley, born in Calgary on Oct 27, 1929, passed away at the Rockyview Hospital on April 6, 2021, at the age of 91. He had been living in the family home in NW Calgary with caregivers’ assistance until his passing.

Bill was the youngest son of Wm. F. and Margaret Brierley. The family grew up in the Mission district and attended St. Mary’s Catholic schools.  He was predeceased by his older brother Lou; his sister Eileen is living in a care facility. His work experience began in a small oil company office in Turner Valley, but Bill was looking for something more creative. He attended classes at SAIT, and a cold call to a new graphics company produced an employment offer. He worked at Duffoto from 1955 until the 1980s. His keen abilities, both technical and academic, made him a great contributor. Bill moved from the stone age to the digital age, and he was adept at all of it! Bill had a phenomenal memory, a wonderful curiosity, and a delightful sense of humour. He will be very missed by all his friends and colleagues.
