Obituary of Harry “Tom” Thomas JONES

January 9, 1928 – Hanley, Saskatchewan
April 12, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta

Tom Jones, beloved husband of Ann Jones (nee Shelefontiuk), of Calgary, AB, passed away on Monday, April 12, 2021, at the age of 93 years.

Tom was a kind, caring and generous husband, father, and grandfather. He was born in Hanley, SK where he learned to play hockey with his brothers, a passion which he carried throughout his life.

Tom started working as a young boy on farms around the Hanley area and eventually got into construction. He moved to Calgary and worked for Nodwell Bros. building trailers for the oil industry, schools and bridges. He worked his way up to superintendent in the company. He worked hard and made many friends along the way. When he retired he enjoyed working in his yard and always grew a bountiful garden of vegetables and potatoes. Tom and his wife also enjoyed meeting up with friends at the local coffee shop.

Tom will be most remembered for his sense of humour, and his hard work. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to his friends and neighbours. But most of all he valued his family and would do anything for his wife and "his girls" as he called his daughter and granddaughter.

Besides his loving wife Ann, Tom is survived by his daughter Patricia Barrow of Calgary, AB and granddaughter Jennifer Barrow of Calgary, AB. Tom was predeceased by his mother Sarah Jones (nee Eddington), father George Henry Jones, five brothers, George (Casey) Jones, William (Bill) Jones, Arnold Jones, Cecil Jones, and Norman Jones; and two sisters, Helen Buckley and Alice Baldwin.
