Obituary of Ellen (Nan) Anne DICKIE


Ellen Anne (Nan) Dickie, died Sunday night, April 11th at The Manor Village where she had been a resident for many years.

Nan is survived by her son James Devonshire (Holly Walsh), her daughter Suzanne Devonshire Baker (Glenn Tibbles); her grandchildren, Jennifer Hamming, Jamie Tilston, Stephanie Tilston, Alexandra Latos and Jocelyne Johnson, Michael Devonshire; and her great-grandchildren Harry, Jack, Owen, Max, Amelie, Devon, Bennett, Cooper, Avonleigh and Elodie.

She was predeceased by her parents, Muriel and Arthur Millard, her first husband Mervyn S. Devonshire and her second husband William D. Dickie, her brother James Millard, her daughter Judith Tilston and her grandson Anthony Devonshire.

A lifelong Calgarian, Nan will be fondly missed by her bridge partners and her many friends from her memberships in her sororities, Christ Church Anglican, Calgary, The Calgary Junior League, The Calgary Golf & Country Club, The Glencoe Club, The Revellers, The Manor Village and Desert Island Golf & Country Club in Rancho Mirage, CA.

Nan spent many happy days travelling extensively with her family, particularly to England, Hawaii and Europe. She especially enjoyed entertaining friends and family for many years at her Eagle Ridge and Rancho Mirage residences.

Nan has specifically requested that there be no notice in local newspapers nor a public funeral service. Once COVID protocols permit, the family will have a private Celebration of Life at Christ Church Anglican, Calgary, where there have been five generations of family worship.  If friends so desire, they are welcome to make a donation in Nan’s name to Christ Church Anglican Calgary (3602 8 St SW, Calgary, AB T2T 3A7) http://www.christchurchcalgary.org/  Telephone: (403) 243-4680.
