Obituary of Alma Helen HAUCA (nee Yadlowski)

August 22, 1931 – Wostok, Alberta
April 19, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta

Alma Helen Hauca, passed away on Monday, April 19, 2021 at the age of 89 years.

Alma graduated from Marvel Beauty School in 1950. She owned and operated Mae’s Beauty Salon in Montgomery from 1977 to 1997. Alma married Peter in 1953.

Alma’s favorite pastime was to sew bags from leftover material and then just give them away. Hundreds of people have a bag that she has made, in fact her husband used to call her “The Bag Lady” and wrote her a poem; Bags of Many Colors.

Every Friday I get up with a roar
Scouring the want ads for rags and more
I jump in my car and away I go
To bargain for rags piled in a row

A nickel or a dime or maybe two bits
I grab my rags and pile in my kits
To hurry home and make more bags
Where only an hour ago they were rags

Adults and children love my bags
Richer or poorer, bags made from rags
And every day they cry with a roar
No matter what colors they ask for more

Alma is survived by her daughters, Valerie (Robert) Dielschneider, Tammy (Wayne) Farris; grandchildren, Roy, Brandyn, Kristyn (Josh), and Megan; and great-grandchildren, Elliette and Dottie.

At Alma’s request there will not be a funeral service at this time. Condolences, memories and photos may be shared and viewed on Alma’s obituary at www.McInnisandHolloway.com.

The family would like to thank the staff at Mount Royal Care Centre for their kindness, gentleness, and friendship.

In living memory of Alma, a tree will be planted in the Ann & Sandy Cross Conservation Area by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Crowfoot, 82 CROWFOOT CIRCLE NW, CALGARY, AB T3G 2T3, Telephone: 403-241-0044.
