Obituary of Beverly Jean OLIVER (nee Lovatt)

June 18, 1941 – Calgary, Alberta
April 18, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta

With family by her side our shinning light, Beverly Jean Oliver (nee Lovatt), passed away on Sunday, April 18, 2021, at the age of 79.

Bev was born on June 18, 1941 in Calgary, AB. She moved frequently in her younger years to various locales throughout Canada as her father served in the Canadian Armed Forces, but lived the majority of her life in Calgary. Among many things, she was a wonderful and caring confidant, an avid reader; for many years a prolific maker of unique and wonderful teddy bears, an underrated photographer, and creator of “Bevisms” that always entertained and made us laugh. Above all else, she was always an incredibly devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was also a wonderful friend to many, especially Patti and Rick Bolduc and family, Lil Langley and family and Jean and Jack Mahan and family and Lois McDonald and family. She loved you all and will be missed by all who knew her.

She was the cherished and much-loved wife to Garry (in his words: “the love of my life”) and a wonderful parent to Tanis and Paul. Family was number one for Bev, and she came by it honestly. She, and her Mom, Freda, with whom she shared a unique and incredibly strong bond, one that helped both mother and daughter heal, grow and prosper after the death of her father when she was just 17, provided the blueprint. The family takes solace that they will be together again.

She is survived by her husband of forty-one years, Garry Oliver, her daughter, Tanis Wells (Rod) and son Paul Wells; as well as her step-children, Cindy Oliver (Rod Stafford), Michelle Eades (Glen Eades) and Ron Oliver; and sisters-in-law Shirley and Janie. She will also be missed by her grandchildren, Josh, Jonah, Madison (Keaton), Mitchell (Steph), Emily and Dillon.

She was predeceased by her parents, Freda Dallas (nee Lovatt: 1987) and Andy Lovatt (1958).

Per Bev’s wishes there will be no formal Funeral Ceremony. But a Celebration of Bev’s Life will be held at a later date, once COVID-19 restrictions allow. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to provide a gift in Bev's name are asked to do so to the charity of their choice. Condolences, memories and photos may be shared and viewed on Bev’s obituary at www.McInnisandHolloway.com.

The family extends their thanks to everyone for their kind words and acknowledgement as well as Alberta Health Service Urban Palliative Homecare unit, the Tom Baker Palliative Care unit and the wonderful staff at Agape Hospice. You were all incredible in your care and went above and beyond with your kindness and compassion.

In living memory of Bev Oliver, a tree will be planted in the Ann & Sandy Cross Conservation Area by McInnis & Holloway Funeral Homes, Park Memorial, 5008 Elbow Drive SW, Calgary, AB T2S 2L5, Telephone: 403-243-8200.
