Obituary of Thomas Vincent Clayton OUMETT

April 23, 1943 – Toronto, Ontario
April 8, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta

Thomas Oumett of Calgary, AB, passed away on Thursday, April 8, 2021, at the age of 77 years.

Clay was born in Toronto, ON, on April 23, 1943. Clay attended Okanagan University College South Campus, where he completed his graduation equivalency and, soon after, his first-year chef course. Clay later pursued another of his passions and began working at Rutland Auto Wrecking, where he worked for many years off and on. Clay accomplished much through his life but was most proud of completing his studies.

Clay enjoyed fishing, reading, driving, listening to music and cooking. He was a huge fan of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and rarely missed watching one of their games. However, his real love was cars. He enjoyed building models, discovering old cars, and the mechanics involved with repairing them. Clay will be most remembered for being a loving father, husband, grandfather, friend and acquaintance to all that came in his presence in this physical life.

Clay is survived by his daughter Sara Oumett of Oyama, BC, his son Richard Oumett of Calgary, AB, and his two grandchildren, Isabella Cassandra Oumett and Kim Farr of Grand Falls-Windsor. Clay is also survived by his brother Walter Wilmott of Kelowna, BC, and numerous extended family and friends. Clay was predeceased by his mother Sally Wilmott, his father Mike Paley, his sister, and his pet Corgi, Cuddles.

A Private Funeral Service will be held on Friday, April 30, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. Condolences, memories and photos can also be shared and viewed here. Inurnment will take place in St. Theresa Cemetery in Kelowna, BC, at a later date.

The family would like to extend our gratitude to the staff of the Bethany Care Centre in Calgary for the outstanding care provided to Clay during his final months.
