Condolences
Esther, John (and family) and David, we are deeply saddened for your loss and please know our thoughts and prayers are with you. When Ken and I bought our home in 1991, little did we know that we were moving in beside one of the nicest families we have ever had the pleasure of meeting. Jerry and Esther have been like extended parents to us and grandparents to our three kids. We have shared many special occasions, dinners, tears, bright sunny days gardening in our yards, and over the fence conversations and laughs. Needless to say, our family will miss Jerry very much, his smile, friendly wave and words of wisdom. Our 30 year relationship and neighbourly friendship has meant so much to our family and will never be forgotten.
When Elliott phoned me to inform me of Jerry‘s death I was utterly stunned. My shock quickly gave way to grief. Our paths only occasionally crossed in recent years, but Jerry was a huge part of mine and my ex-wife Elaine’s life for many years in our younger years. Yes Jerry was possessed of a memorably dry wit, which in our later contacts, he certainly never lost. He was a great friend and I will never forget him, one reason for the latter is that, when I was hospitalized ten years ago this very month due a freakish fall the nature of which demanded immediate surgery, who should come to visit me but Jerry. He was exemplifying his always-kind-hearted nature and, in so doing demonstrating that, for him, a friend was always a friend.
I will miss not having Jerry in the world
Lovingly, Alan Parry
Our condolences to Esther and family, Jerry had a huge influence on our lives in our early years in Calgary. We had been encouraged by his mother before we left Nova Scotia to contact Jerry, and we soon did. He befriended us and was instrumental in getting Jean a teaching position. Garth had had no trouble getting work in the printing industry, then Jerry told us of the opportunity to attend university and become a vocational teacher, which resulted in a twenty five year career in high schools and SAIT. We are forever grateful for his friendship and guidance. The world is poorer without him.

Dear Esther, John, and David. I was so saddened to hear of Jerry’s passing. We have not seen much of one another in recent years but I remember your kindness to us when we visited Calgary many years ago. Jerry was one of the older cousins but he was always patient with us younger ones.
I pray that you will be comforted by the many wonderful memories you have and that peace will fill your hearts.
Greg and Sandra (Ripley) Ross.
Lynn and I are so sorry to learn of Jerry's passing. I owe so much to Jerry for bringing me to Aberhart and assisting me in so many ways throughout my teaching. He was an exceptionally kind and clever man. I missed him when he retired; and, I miss him even more now. Our sincerest thoughts and best wishes to Esther, John, David, and family.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family, John, on the sad loss of your father.

I was so sorry to hear of Jerry's passing and my thoughts and prayers are with Ester, John, and David. I have so many fond memories of Jerry's years as the organist and choir director at Varsity Acres Presbyterian Church. I was a member of the choir during all those years and appreciated the efforts of Jerry to help us be better musicians, his tolerance of our limitations and his dry humor were very much appreciated.
My heartfelt condolences on the loss of your dear husband, father.I feel privileged to have met him on a few occasions..He had a great wit, and certainly had a global wealth of knowledge. He was a good man.I am happy to have known him.Just, perhaps, he and Bill are reminiscing with all the relatives who have gone on before us.I can just imagine Mary, Bill, Ina and Jerry have a massive chat together.May they all RIP.If you ever make a trek to Cb,please know you are always most welcome to stay with me. carolyn Snow
