Claudia Kanaroski of Calgary, AB, passed away on Wednesday, April 14, 2021, at the age of 93 years.

Claudia was born in Beausejour, MB, on April 3, 1928, to Stanley and Katherine Halicki. She was the oldest of seven children. In 1948 Claudia married Joseph Kanaroski before eventually settling in Calgary in 1965 with their three children, Stanley, David, and Teresa. In addition to her family Claudia, having a big heart, fostered many babies over the years.

Among their many travels throughout North America and Europe, one of Claudia’s most memorable vacations was when she and Joe visited Holland as guests of the people they hosted in Calgary during the ’88 Olympics.

She always enjoyed having family and friends come to visit. At their home on Caribou Drive, Claudia developed a passion for gardening. She would spend countless hours growing and nurturing one of the neighbourhood’s most beautiful gardens. Along with her flowers, she would help nurture eight grandchildren through games of canasta, backyard fun, and wonderful family meals. She shared her garden with all during many warm and welcome visits. In 2004 she brought another member into the family with her little dog, Ginger. She loved Ginger with all her heart as she was a great comfort after Joe’s passing in 2005.

When she finally moved into her new residence at The Edgemont Assisted Living, she renewed her passion for playing cards and conversation that often lasted late into the evenings. She loved making new friends and sharing her love of flowers with all the residents as she would often have the most colourful room and patio in the building. Everyone would also often comment about how elegantly she would be dressed for all occasions. Claudia enjoyed her final years in her new home thanks to the wonderful staff and new friends she made.

She will be lovingly remembered for the simple things like a generous heart, a warm smile, and the most beautiful flowers.

Claudia is survived by her three children, Stan (Lee), David (Annie), and Teresa (Bruce); her grandchildren, Jim, Mike (Shanelle), Liz, Katie, John, Tommy, Christian (Megan), and Adam (Autumn); three great-grandchildren, Lucas, Phoenix, and Everest; and dear family friend, Lynda Green. Claudia is also survived by her brothers, Gary and Ronnie; her sister Marilyn (Gary), as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Claudia was predeceased by her beloved husband, Joseph, in 2005.
