Obituary of Donald Murray BRATT

Don Bratt passed away in the early morning hours of Wednesday, April 21, 2021 after spending the weekend in hospital at the age of 86 years.

Don was born in Regina, SK on June 24, 1934 to Walter (Scotty) and Pauline Bratt and moved to Calgary in his early twenties. Among other endeavours, Don had owned a number of convenience stores in Calgary as well as a grocery store in Milestone, SK, not far from the family farm his grandparents had homesteaded and where he grew up. Don returned to automotive sales in Calgary in the 1970’s and retired while at GSL GM City. It was at GSL that Don met Lois, sold her a car, was smitten and married her on June 14, 1986. Together Don and Lois had many adventures. In the summers they loved their weekends at the Tall Timber and Rosewood RV parks in Sundre, AB and in the winters they snowbirded in Phoenix and traveled to Mexico and Hawaii with children and grandchildren.

Don is survived by his wife, Lois, and his children, Lorna (Billy), Scott (Janice) and Vaughn (Laurie); and Papa to Payge, Rachel, Hunter, Ryan, Abbey and Brooklynn. Don is also survived by his dear brother Ken and Lois’s children, Dixie, Greg, Karen (Rick) and Scott and their families. Don is also survived by his first wife and mother of his children, Loretta.

Don’s family would like to thank the ICU and Unit 43 at Peter Lougheed Hospital for the skillful and thoughtful care Don received during his last few days which gifted Don some extra time to enable a long final visit with immediate family. Shortly after this visit and two months shy of his 87th birthday, Don’s huge heart finally just gave out.

A private family celebration of life will be held at a later date.
