So sorry to hear of the loss of Uncle Ed! As a Vancouver relative, we sadly didn't spend many times together. But the memories I do have of Ed are of a warm, funny, larger-than-life Danish character who always had a story to tell or a joke to share. My heart goes out to Aunt Mary and cousins Mark, Andrea, and Annelise. Deepest condolences.

I will always hold a special place for the memories I have of Uncle Ed. I was blessed to be Uncle Ed and Auntie Mary’s godchild and we shared many sweet and special times. So many to name; a special stuffed animal, a special conversation that eased my hurting heart, anything Danish, stories about his time in Denmark, lessons in life and suggestions in painting. (Danish Christmas’s were awesome, but did he and Mary ever do a bang up brunch!) Both he and Mary, and our Cuzzin’s too, have always done everything to make people feel special and welcomed, Part of the family no matter what. The best part of my wedding was his speech to the bride. That’s probably the only part of that I will never forget! ❤️ I am grateful my parents are somewhere with Uncle Ed now, hopefully he’s finally got dad to check out Denmark.

I love you so much Andrea, Annelise, Mark and Auntie Mary. I truly don’t have the right words right now, just love. And a lot of it. I am incredibly blessed to know, love and feel the support our family’s share right now. No Better Guardian Angels would be possible. There legacy’s are large and beautiful.

We have had Mary and Ed as neighbours since we moved in Lake Bonavista in 1994. I have enjoyed my visits with Ed out on his walks around the neighbourhood and the back alley catch ups! It was wonderful to have his grandchildren Chloe and Paige become part of my girls playmate groups whenever they visited their grandparents. I enjoyed hearing about all the memories such as the dress up dinner parties, times shared with friends at the farm and stories about their children when they were younger. I have glanced through photos and spent time listening to some of their old albums but have especially enjoyed being shown Ed’s artwork! He was an amazing artist! He lived an amazing life, always supported by his family. I am blessed to have gotten to know them all over the years. Thinking of you all. Penny

Uncle Ed was one of a kind. He loved his family and loved to have fun. I have wonderful memories of eating herring and drinking Aquivit and Tuborg with Ed and the family, listening to his stories and laughing, and trying to keep up to him all night. He always made me feel like I’d known him forever, and being around him always put a smile on my face. He will be missed but never forgotten.

To our Cuzzins, we send our love and condolences. Ed and Einar were more like brothers than cousins and our families have shared so many wonderful moments and memories over the decades. I remember Uncle Ed taking Ava and Mia skating on the lake 10 years ago with the energy of a man half his age; entertaining all the kids at our early Brasso Datsun children’s Christmas parties; coming to the dealership over several evenings to give Dad and I painting lessons; lunches at the Danish club after which Dad and I had to go have naps; wonderful Danish Christmas dinners, including a recent one where Uncle Ed “skoaled!” Kirk, Brad and the boys under the table - not once but twice! (but not us Viking gals! ;-) We will all miss his sense of humour, warmth, intelligence and wisdom and send you so much love and strength as we grieve our parents together. Please give Aunt Mary a hug from us and tell her we love her too.

I can hear Ed's distinctive voice in my head right now. I see him in his crisp dress shirt and slacks (always!) ) in your kitchen with a plate of open faced danish sandwiches and being the consummate host (also always!). He was such fun to be around at those Sorensen/Ashworth/Dowson/Lalonde gatherings - always a twinkle in his eyes. I know you'll miss him lots.

I feel blessed to have memories of such a long-lasting friendship and good times shared with Ed and Mary in their home, at the farm, in BC and at our many dress-up dinner parties. The Sorensens became our "other family" when we came to Calgary from Ontario and for that I am forever grateful. Ed was generous, humorous, talented and hospitable, always making me feel welcome.

But we knew the party was over when Ed went to bed....

I was so sorry to hear about Ed's passing, but what a wonderful tribute this is to your Dad. Such a long and full life he had - I didn't realize he was 95! Certainly for me, and many of my siblings, Ed and Mary were like family and their faces inhabit many memories of my younger days, with the families getting together.. Much love to all of you - Mary, Mark, Andrea, Annelise and families. I'm sure your Dad would be very proud of your beautiful words.
