Obituary of Brent Frederick MORRIS

April 19, 1959 – Red Deer, Alberta
April 20, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta

Brent Morris of Calgary, AB, passed away on Tuesday, April 20, 2021 at the age of 62 years. He was born in Red Deer, AB, on April 19, 1959.
 
Brent started his working life in the insurance industry where he excelled for 16 years. Most recently, he had a successful career in security services.
 
He enjoyed fishing, bicycling, reading fiction, people watching and cheering for the Calgary Flames! When his son was little, Brent enjoyed going to all of his games and helping the coaches as needed. He was a proud father.
 
He will be most remembered for his appreciation of acts of kindness and his gracious attitude towards the homeless. He made a point of respecting the homeless he met on his walk to work by learning their names and something about them. He also made a point of giving to people he felt were less fortunate than him. Although quiet by nature, he could strike up a conversation with anyone and, if you ever needed help, he was always willing to lend a hand.
 
Brent is survived by his son Samuel Morris of Calgary, AB; sister Sandra (Brian) Nixon of Coquitlam, BC; his father Sid Morris of Alix, AB; as well as his niece Nicole (Drew) Rogerson and their children, Easton and Sienna (he was gruncle [great uncle] Brent). Brent is also survived by numerous cousins and his best friends Cindy Hellmich and Bruce Marcott. 
 
He was predeceased by his mother, Anne Morris.

Funeral Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Park Memorial, 5008 Elbow Drive SW, Calgary, AB) on Thursday, August 26, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. The family invites guests to wear Blue in honour of Brent. Family and friends are invited to join Mr. Morris’ service streamed live (see below) on the day of the service. For those who are unable to view live, a recording of the service will be posted.
