Obituary of Timothy (Tim) Walter CORNER

May 3, 1988 – Calgary, Alberta
April 24, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta

Tim Corner of Calgary, AB, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 24, 2021 at the age of 32 years, surrounded by family, after a hard-fought battle with both Hodgkin’s and Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. At his passing, Tim knew how much he was loved by many and shared his gratitude specifically for the selfless dedication of both his parents who tirelessly visited him daily during his challenging hospital stays.

Tim was born in Calgary, AB, Canada on May, 3, 1988. He proudly graduated from Saint Mary's High School in 2006. He worked as a customer service clerk at Sobey’s in Strathcona for close to ten years, and then moved to Safeway in Westbrook. It’s no surprise that loyal customers followed Tim, people gravitated to his huge heart and unchallenged ability to listen. When Tim learned of any life milestones (big or small), he was the first person to send his well wishes. He had a knack for names and dates and remembered specifics that imparted a very special feeling for all those whose path he crossed. Tim was an avid bowler and proudly won several club championships at The Glencoe Club, his true second home. Though humble in all aspects of his life, he would happily “school” anyone in a bowling game — and never left any sore losers behind. He was often found on the golf course (rarely playing), supporting or to caddy and always closing out the round with his signature laid back Rumbo. Tim had a strong connection with music, favouring country music; he would belt out any chorus for all to hear. During his summers, Tim looked forward to spending time in the Windermere Valley and visiting extended family in Toronto. Most of those who knew him will now be on their own to find the latest sport stats, as no one could rival his timely and accurate account of sports and current events. He will forever be remembered as being surreally kind, warm, genuine and caring. After countless rounds of treatment, Tim selflessly checked in on others and would humbly respond with, ’I’m hanging in there, how are you doing?’. He brought a smile to all those he encountered, gave the best hugs and loved fiercely.

Tim is survived by his parents, Steve Corner and Joni Johnson; his  brother, Mike Corner and two sisters, Michelle Nichol (Jeff Nichol) and Nicole Dyer (Mike Dyer); as well as nieces Ava and Breanna Nichol; nephews Lincoln and Corbin Dyer; and several loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

The family will be holding a Celebration of Tim’s Life virtually on what would have been his 33rd birthday. Oh how he loved a great birthday celebration!
