Ciocia Zosia pozostanie w naszej pamięci jako osoba ciepła, uśmiechnięta, czuła i pełna miłości.
Zawsze starała się nam pomagać. Pamiętała o każdym z nas.
Dzieliła z nami smutki i radości. Pomimo znacznej odległości była obecna w naszym życiu, a my w Jej.
Tęskniła za Polską, za rodziną i przyjaciółmi.
Pamiętamy i mile wspominamy czas kiedy odwiedziła nas w Polsce w 1994r.
Ciocia pozostanie na zawsze w naszych sercach i naszej pamięci.
Wierzymy, że kiedyś się spotkamy.
Niech spoczywa w pokoju.
Dziękujemy Asi Szakalskiej za opiekę nad naszą Ciocią, za poświęcony jej czas i otwarte serce.
My husband (Eric) and I were saddened to hear that Aunt Sofia passed away. Aunt Sofia lived with my parents Julian and Barbara for a short time when she first arrived in Canada. Aunt Sofia was very brave to adventure so far from any family on her own.
She met a wonderful couple in Alberta, the Szakalski's and their daughter Asha in 1975. Antoni (2003) and Maria Szakalski (2015) were a vital part of her life and provided a constant source of support and companionship over the years.
Eric and I would like to express our heartfelt thank you to Asha Szakalski, for her care and compassion for Aunt Sofia for so many years.
Always and forever in our hearts. Christine and Eric
The first time I met Zofia was when she arrived from Poland but I was young and I only have a sense that she was a caring person and that she left for Alberta.
It was some years later that I met her for the second time when she came from Alberta to Ontario for a short period to look after her brother Bruno, my Uncle, as he recovered from surgery. This time I got to meet her a bit more and she was as I remembered as a caring and considerate person. And then she was gone again.
God bless you Zofia and we will meet again.
I will always remember Zofia as very caring, generous, thoughtful, strong and independent. She was an extremely brave woman who left her country of Poland to come to Canada and make a new life for herself, all on her own in the 1960s, which was no small feat. Zofia was a very good friend to my mom and dad, and when I was a kid she always remembered my birthdays and special occasions, and would come over for a visit with the nicest and most thoughtful gift. Zofia always treasured the contact she maintained with her family in Poland, and was just as thoughtful and kind to her nieces and nephews there as she was to me. It has been my privilege to know Zofia, and she will be missed. I am grateful that she is now in a better place and at rest with God.
