Condolences
Hazel was a passionate LPN in her career at Foothills Hospital. She talked the talk and walked the walk as an activist in AUPE. She always lit up when speaking of her nephews and nieces and loved taking them on adventures - Sylvan Lake being a favorite. She was a skilled knitter and often talked about and showed me her projects. RIP Hazel.
The Finney family were our extended family as immigrants our blood relatives were far away and no computers in those days to stay connected. I called Hazel,Hilary and Allen my cousins and loved them dearly. Hazel and I both loved travel and so we had some fun adventures ❤together. I look back on those years as a treasure and a gift. Thank you Hazel and Hilary for being the big sisters for me.
From my family to yours, please accept our deepest condolences. Hazel was a remarkable woman who left her mark on everyone she interacted with in and out of the union. I remember the first time I met Hazel, she was such a firecracker and let you know how she felt and what she believed in without hesitation. Hazel was a fighter, who fought relentlessly for the members within AUPE local 55 and then 95. I will surely miss the friendship, the love and the laughter. May she rest in eternal peace. - Reynold Morgan
We hope your memories of Hazel are gentle and bring you comfort. Hazel and Sadie were our neighbours on Chisholm and were welcome guests at our cul-de-sac BBQs.
Our condolences, Wendy and Hubert
To Allen and the Finney Family. I was so saddened to hear of the passing of your lovely sister I had the honour of meeting her on a few occasions but felt I knew her through Dawn’s stories I know she will be greatly missed :( May she Rest In Peace
Sending Our Deepest Sympathy to your Family. We were so sad to hear of Hazel’s passing. We met Hazel when she was at Boardwalk Retirement Community many years back. What a wonderful and interesting lady. We stopped often to talk to Hazel; she always had a smile on her face. Hazel loved to talk about her family; she cared so much about you all. Not surprising Hazel had a career as a nurse she certainly had a way of helping others, when our mom (Joyce) was not able to speak anymore, Hazel and I were chatting and she said she would keep an eye on her and that is what she did. I called her Hazel my 007 and she would let me know what was going on in the Dining Room. My sister and I would bring her word search books as she loved doing them daily and we were glad to see her happy, she loved them. We will miss seeing her at the table with a Popsicle in hand and busy working away on a puzzle. My Brother, Sister and I will truly miss our conversations. Love Joyce, Kevin, Dara and Loretta
