Condolences
What a wonderful tribute to Zel. She was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother and woman, so full of affection, verve, humour and comittment. I am so glad she had such wonderful long life surrounded by loving family, friends, and caregivers in her last few years. May her memory be a blessing to all.
Lovely tribute to a lovely mother, wife, grandmother and friend. My deepest sympathy to all of you

Aunt Zel was a favoured aunt. Our opportunities to see her over the years were limited but always memorable — treasured — by Fred and Barb, and in later years, Maureen. Her upbeat disposition and curiosity about our lives was truly appreciated. She was a caring younger sister to Dad, and his stories of their youth in Lethbridge (often centred on sledding or skiing in the most bitter winter weather, with cacti!) gave us a fuller appreciation of their positive, forward-looking outlook on life. Zel always expected the best of us. No doubt these were some of her gifts to you as well. All our best wishes go to you, Will, Eric, Alan and Betsy.
All members of the Junior League of Calgary are saddened to learn of Zel's death. We send condolences and much sympathy to Zel's family during this time. Many of us remember Zel as a very involved and committed member of the League. Her impact was felt in many projects and community programs over several decades. She will be missed by many.
Dear Betsy, Alan, Eric and Will, Please accept my deepest sympathy on the loss of your mother and our friend, Zel. I am flooded w/memories of the years our growing families spent together in Harvie Heights. And then.....we all went our separate ways as you grew up and we all moved away. But memories are good and now Zel is with John and Vic (Rogers) and Jane (Edwards) and Claude (LeBlanc) and all of us have some of John's paintings on our walls to remember the Harvie family all.
Your mother was such an accomplished person. Rest in Peace Zel.

Fort Macleod checking in with such wonderful memories of the few years Zel, John and the children spent in Fort Macleod with John as a travelling magistrate, and my husband, Grey Cressman, as Sheriff and Clerk of the Court here. I treasure the watercolours John painted as Christmas cards, and which we framed, now hanging on the walls of my apartment overlooking the Oldman River.
Special family times together, and remembering all those good times are the best comfort of all.
May God bless you, especially now,
Carole Cressman
