Joeseph Lay, beloved son, brother, spouse and father, passed away on Sunday, May 16, 2021 at the age of 29 years.

Joey was born in Calgary, AB, on September 23, 1991. He worked as a warehouse worker and as a roofer in the Calgary area. Joey enjoyed biking, hiking and spending his time out in nature. When Joey became a father to his peanut, Ayasha Koko Lay which stands for “Little one” “Night”, things really changed for him. We saw the carefree lifestyle he led, change to a family orientated guy. Joey found God through the Dream Center program, he gained many lasting friendships with his bubbly and caring personality, for all those whom crossed his path. Joey enjoyed spending his time out at his favorite Aunt Marty’s farm. He enjoyed sledding, quading, boating, and riding on his Uncle Dick’s motorcycle. He also spent time with his grandma helping her out. Growing up, he spent summers camping with his family, with B.C. being one of his favorite destinations. He loved spending time with his father, Ken Lay, who he loved dearly, Joey enjoyed helping with any project he had going on, and being with him in general growing up. He also enjoyed celebrating his father’s long sobriety and making it special for him.

Joey is survived by his loving wife Anita Jacquelin Chudek, daughter Ayasha Koko Lay, two stepsons, Dayman Hall and Landien Hall;

father Ken Lay and his wife Deborah Hansen; brother James Lay and his wife Daphne Plourde; nephew Conner Wolf Lay, and sister Taila Irene Lay and her wife Robyn Weegar.
