New angel in heaven

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mother Mary, affectionately known as Maci, with family by her side on Sunday, May 23, 2021.

Mary was a beautiful soul, with a smile that would warm any heart.  She gave so much of her love and time to her family and friends. She worked endlessly to help make our lives easier. Always an optimist, she believed in a positive attitude and saw the good in everyone. She was courageous, persistent and had an amazing sense of humor.

Our lady in red was a social butterfly and was adored by all that crossed her path. She loved to entertain, to have a party and was Maci to everyone. Maci adored her grandchildren and was with them almost every day. She called them her daily dose of Vitamin C. She has blessed us with an abundance of precious memories. Mary’s heart was filled with love for her family and friends. She truly was “a good thing in a small package”.

Loving mother to her children, Tom (Leslie), Margaret (Fred) and Attila (Ronnie). Cherished Maci to her adoring grandchildren, Melissa (Josh), Jason (Sara), Sarah (Tyler), Andréa (Joe), Lisa (Hector), Ali and John (Taylor); and great-grandchildren, Carter, Ryder, Cooper, Aidan, Ava, Braelyn and Harper. She will also be lovingly remembered by her siblings Terike Salamon, József (Margit) Japport; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 60 years Charles Racz; parents, Ferenc and Maria Japport

Mary loved children and before leaving Hungary, she was a Pediatric nurse. Mary and Charles came to Canada in 1957, during the Hungarian revolution. They settled in Calgary and started a family. Years later, they relocated to Portage La Prairie, MB. The family moved back to Calgary in 1972 and opened the first location of Professional Skate Service. After 25 years, they retired passing on the family business. In 1998, Charles and Mary moved to Sidney, BC where she enjoyed gardening, visiting Butchart Gardens and reconnecting with friends. She loved visiting her favorite boutiques, along Beacon Ave for retail therapy. After Charles passed away in 2017, she relocated to Okotoks to be near to her loving family. She loved watching her great-grandsons play hockey, baseball and attending school concerts. She was forever cooking and baking for them.

Maci you will “Always be Remembered and Forever Loved”

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.  Condolences, memories and photos may be shared and viewed on Mary’s obituary at www.McInnisandHolloway.com.
