Obituary of Olivier GALY

Olivier Galy of Calgary, AB, passed away on May 7, 2021 at the age of 23 years.

Olivier was born in Fataki, Democratic Republic of Congo on October 5, 1997 and moved to Calgary, AB, in 2014 with his uncle. As a teenager, and a new immigrant to Canada, Olivier had to overcome different challenges, and proudly graduated from Forest Lawn High School in 2018.

Olivier accomplished much through his life and was particularly proud of his musical talents; He liked playing piano before going to bed, and would be singing not only in the shower, but also when washing his dishes. Olivier enjoyed playing soccer and basketball, and loved singing in the church. Olivier’s most memorable vacation was when he went camping with his friends. Germany was on his travel list, after his birth country.

Olivier was waiting for the schools to open again before he would go to college and university to pursue his dream career of being a professional musician, but he suddenly passed away in his home. Olivier was not only very social, but he was also pacifist, and would avoid the conflicts at all costs. His favourite saying was “oh oh my God”.

Olivier is survived by his sister Rebecca Galy, two uncles, Mbukana Galy and Celestin Bahati, who reside in Calgary, AB; as well as his cousins and friends.

A Public Viewing will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Eastside, 5388 Memorial Drive NE, Calgary, AB) on Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Mountain View Memorial Gardens.
