Obituary of John Edward MARTIN

September 29, 1934 – Nakusp, British Columbia
May 29, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta

John Martin, beloved husband of Eileen Martin (nee Marcoux) of Calgary, AB, passed away on May 29, 2021 at the age of 86 years.

John was born in Nakusp, BC, on September 29, 1934. He received his engineering degree from UBC in 1958 and worked in the oil and gas industry in Alberta. He was also past president of the Gas Processors Association. He was a long time member of Lakeview United Church and for many years made food deliveries to the Food Bank.  He was also a member of the Second Sixties Outdoor Club (Honorary Life Member), Seniors Alpine Ski Club and the Bow Cliff Seniors Bridge club. He loved to walk in North Glenmore Park and Fridays was always lunch and beers at the Centennial Legion with a group of buddies. The family owes many thanks to his daughter Paige for the years of loving kindness and care she gave him.

John is survived by his loving wife Eileen (Lee) of sixty-one years, his son Bryce (Helen), daughter Paige and granddaughters, Amber, Briana and Kelsey. He was predeceased by his half-siblings, Mervyn and Fred Cusick and Louise Caldicott. 

As per John’s wishes, there is to be no funeral, which would have been difficult in these times of Covid. However we will have a rousing wake, when we are all able to gather safely again.
