Obituary of Gladys Margaret MORTON
March 25, 1954 – Beardmore, Ontario
May 26, 2021 – Airdrie, Alberta
A loving mother, nana, sister, friend and a wife, Gladys Morton of Airdrie, Alberta passed away at 6:57 p.m. on May 26, 2021 after a short, but aggressive battle against cancer at the young age of 67.
Gladys was a well educated and versatile woman. She graduated from Confederation College with two degrees in business and had many different tickets such as a Heavy Equipment Operator. Gladys was also an accomplished Class 1 driver, who was the third female in Thunder Bay to graduate the course and pass the exam on her first try.
In addition to Gladys’ accomplishments, she was a very passionate and empathetic woman who volunteered her time with the Women’s Shelter as a Support Person in Thunder Bay. Gladys then moved to Calgary in 1996 where she worked as a Personal Financial Representative at the Royal Bank where she retired in 2010.
Gladys enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She travelled often with her spouse Darrell Nowlin to places such as Disney World, Hawaii, Mexico, and Jamaica. When she wasn’t travelling you could find her hosting family get-togethers, garage surfing, reading and tending the garden. Gladys was the rock and glue that kept the family together; she was the person that everyone went to for support.
Gladys is survived by her spouse, Darrell Nowlin of Airdrie, her children, Margaret Csori (Tony) of New Brunswick and Clint Csori of Airdrie; her grandchildren, Samantha Ginter of Airdrie, Dylan Csori (Paige) of Airdrie, and Serena Potter (Patrik) of Saskatoon; great-grandchildren, Brody Bailie and Luka Walz of Airdrie; her three brothers, Fred Morton of Nanaimo, Robert Morton (Maria) of Thunder Bay, Mark Morton of Airdrie; and three sisters, Tudy Ball of Parkville, Alice Yanchuk of Atikokan, and Isabelle Berthlette of Nanaimo. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nephews, cousins and friends.
Gladys was predeceased by her parents, Fred Morton and Mabel Hardy, her brother Donald Morton, her sister Mae Morton, grandson-in-law Riley, and her brother-in-law Richard.
