Quinton (Chewy) KOOTENAY

Obituary of Quinton (Chewy) Vance Stacy KOOTENAY

May 1, 1968 – Calgary, Alberta
May 29, 2021 – Morley, Alberta

Quinton (Shaz) Kootenay, our beloved brother, nephew, uncle, cousin and friend, departed on his journey on Saturday, May 29, 2021 at the age of 53 years.

Shaz was a kind, humble, and very outgoing person and would greet everyone with a smile, handshake, and hug. Shaz would always make it a point to joke and laugh with his aunties. He loved and cared for friends, family and also helped raise his nieces and nephews. His love and passion was working and riding with horses. Shaz dabbled in the culinary arts as a young man at SAIT, and traditionally as well, and enjoyed cutting and making dry meat back home.

Shaz liked all kinds of music and enjoyed going out to concerts. He played all kinds of sports and liked to play Horseshoe. Shaz had his own uniqueness about him and showed his pride in every way. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Shaz is survived by his adoptive mother Thelma Beaver, six siblings, Terry (Margret), Rosie, Yolanda (Floyd), Tamra, Travis, Yvan (Linda); aunties, Kathleen, Clarice, Lana, Mary Jane (Dallon), Madaline, Rebecca; uncles, Joey (Lavern), Lawrence D., Felix, Jackson, Everett, Lawrence C.; close friends, Paula P., Kenny H., Keon H., Olin B., Rose K., and Florendra K.; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and relatives from the Kootenay, Dixon, Crawler, Poucette, McLean, Labelle, Wesley, Fox, Daniels, Abraham, Saddlebacks, Yellowbird families from Morley, Eden Valley, Big Horn, and Maskwacis. We apologize if we have missed anyone.

He was predeceased by his parents, Viola Kootenay and Gordon Hunter Beaver; his brothers, Leland, Keith, Narvil; sister Leona; grandparents, Joe and Mary K., Bill McLean, Nat and Gertrude Hunter Beaver; and great-grandfather Walking Buffalo; aunt Shirley Crawler; uncles, Nat Beaver and John H.B.; and special nephews, Lance (Muther), Butch and Tyler.
