Obituary of Paulena Mary WINNICKI

June 6, 1931 - Regina, Saskatchewan

May 27, 2021 - Calgary, Alberta

Paulena Winnicki (nee Schaeffer) of Calgary, AB, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 27, 2021 at the age of 89.

Paulena will be remembered for her infectious smile, her love of life and her fashion style. She was a meticulous homemaker that maintained an immaculate home, prepared home cooked meals and made an incredible apple pie. Paulena’s interests over the years included gardening, ballroom dancing, socializing and to this day loved listening to music.

How very lucky we were that you were our mother. You opened our minds and our hearts. You always picked us up when we fell down. Your love and guidance will always be with us. You were the most unconditionally loving person, supported our family on every level. Mom devoted every evening on her chair by the window and prayed for her family. Thank you so much for being our mother. Until we meet again, we will hold you closely in our hearts forever and always!

Paulena will be lovingly remembered and cherished by her children, Evon Winnicki, Debbie and David Szekely, Myles Winnicki and Regan Winnicki; her grandchildren, Jeffrey, Devin, Duane, Jason and Amber, Rochelle and James, Cole, Tyler and Logan; and her great-grandchildren, Abbygail,  Maddie, Weston, Ryder and Chantel. She will also be lovingly remembered by Lauretta Schaeffer, Leonard (Lena) Winniski, Bunny Winniski; numerous nieces and nephews, many beautiful friends at the Austin Nixon (Silvera).

Paulena was predeceased by her husband Emil and her daughter Chantell, her parents, Jacob and Martha Schaeffer; brothers, Nick Schaeffer, Fred (Veronica) Schaeffer, Martin (Florence) Schaeffer; and three sisters in infancy.
