Obituary of Rigoberto (Rigo) KASCHEL

November 20, 1939 – Purranque, Chile
June 2, 2021 - Calgary, Alberta

Rigoberto (Rigo) Kaschel passed away in the early morning of Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at the age of 81, surrounded by loved ones and those nearest to his heart.  He will be greatly missed.  

His family will continue to honour his legacy and live by his example -- by living their lives to the fullest with strength of character, unstoppable work ethic, and above all else, love and compassion for those around him.  

In the fifty-five years since arriving in Canada, Rigo committed himself to several careers that took him all over the country with one express goal of building a life and future for his family that was abundant, safe and full of opportunities.  It was Rigo's nature to be generous and kind -- whether through a simple errand, a major home and yard improvement project, or just a listening ear -- he was there for you.  He took incredible pride in a job well done.      

Rigo was happiest when surrounded by his family, traveling the world over with friends and, of course, fishing!  Large family meals were a specialty for him, catering to the needs and tastes of everyone at the table -- filling your plate as soon as you could clear it.  Many of you might remember his mischievous smirk -- mostly realized moments after you were the brunt of some little scheme.  He was playful and a little quirky -- even to the very last moment as the nurses all appreciated his company and acknowledged how entertaining he can be.  The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Rigo and we all benefited from that energy.    

He will be sorely missed.  Rigo is survived by his spouse of forty years, Ivonne, his children, Patricia, Rodrigo, Carlos, Mickey, Claudio, and Angela; his grandchildren, Carlos, Thomas, Tyson, Nicole, Audrina, Marco, and Camillo; and numerous other relatives in Chile.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at the Sacred Heart Church (1307 14 St. SW, Calgary, AB).  Interment will follow in the Sacred Heart Church Columbarium -- his final resting place.  Condolences, memories and photos may be shared and viewed on Rigo’s obituary at www.McInnisandHolloway.com.
