Obituary of Dylan Kane RETZLAFF

Dylan Kane Retzlaff of Calgary, AB, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, May 30, 2021 at the age of 33 years. We are devastated by this loss and completely unprepared.

Dylan had a passion for so many things. He turned his double garage into a woodworking shop where he designed and built amazing pieces for family and friends. If he wasn’t in his workshop, you might find him creating compositions in his music room. He also enjoyed cooking and canning the harvest from his gardens – Dylan had an amazing green thumb and could grow anything from seed or a cutting.

Besides his creativity, Dylan will probably be most remembered for his love for dogs and nature, and the diversity of his interests and talents – from rope swinging off bridges to needlepoint to beekeeping.

Dylan leaves a huge hole in the hearts of mom, Colleen Lucas and stepfather, Brian Harrison, his brother Drew Harrison, his sisters Ayla Retzlaff (Debo Oyenuga) and Jonna Retzlaff, and his partner, Kailee Hergenhein. He also leaves behind his grandmother, Shirley Harrison, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Dylan also touched the lives of too many friends to list. Dylan is also survived by his dog, Bernard, who was his constant companion over the last 10 years. Dylan was predeceased by his father, Desmond.

Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Crowfoot, 82 Crowfoot Circle NW, Calgary, AB) on Wednesday, June 9, 2021 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.

A Private Funeral Service will be held, on Friday, June 11, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. Family and friends are invited to join Mr. Retzlaff’s service streamed live (see below) on the day of the service.
