David Charles Spence, beloved husband of Doreen Spence (nee Howse) of Calgary, AB, passed away on Monday, June 7, 2021 at the age of 83 years.

David was born and raised in Hamilton, ON. He joined the Canadian Armed Forces when he turned eighteen and made it his career for the remainder of his working life. He held many positions within the Armed Forces; David loved the outdoors, long walks (marches), fishing, canoeing, golf, spending time with his grandchildren, and his occasional smokie from Costco.

Besides his loving wife Doreen, David is survived by three children, Jamie Albrecht, Brad Spence (Tracy Breaker), Kimberly Spence; five grandchildren, Lyndsey and Stacy Albrecht, Charmaine and Amanda Breaker-Spence and Sheena (Malcolm) White Cow. He is also survived by a brother Bob (Trudy) Spence, two sisters-in-laws, Bonnie Cahill-Spence and Susan Cahill-Spence.

David was predeceased by his parents, Mildred and Raymond Spence; his identical twin brother Richard, siblings, George Spence, Winnie Martin, Geraldine Ross, Beulah Cutler, Raymond Spence, Mary Sheirk, and Eva Paul; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A cremation is to take place, as per David’s wishes, and a Family Celebration of David’s Life will be held at North Glenmore Park, west side entrance (Chickadee site), on Saturday, June 12, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. Military Service.
