Obituary of Joyce Ellen CLARKE

October 9, 1933 – Calgary, Alberta

June 7, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta

Joyce Ellen Clarke (nee Petersen) slipped peacefully into the presence of the Lord surrounded by her girls, Val, Lynn and Chris, on Monday, June 7, 2021, at 5:35 pm at the age of 87.

Joyce was born on October 9, 1933, in Calgary, AB, at the Grace Hospital. She was the eldest of two children. Joyce graduated from Western Canada High School and went to work at the Royal Bank as a stenographer, where she met her beloved husband Jack. She was a full-time mom until the girls were teenagers, when she returned to work part-time in various positions. She eventually retired from the position of Secretary at Operation Eyesight Universal, giving her more time to spend with family. Joyce attended First Baptist Church from the time she was born and was an active member until this past year. Over the years, she was involved in C.G.I.T., Handbells, Choir, Norman Dabbs Mission Group and Middle-Aged Fellowship. Jack and Joyce loved camping in their trailer with family and friends. Joyce will be fondly remembered and sorely missed by those who knew and loved her.

Joyce is survived by daughters, Val (Lorne), Lynn (Glenn), and Chris (Brent); eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, as well as her sister Ingrid (John) Watson, and several nieces and nephews. Joyce was predeceased by her loving husband, Jack, and her parents, Knud and Beatrice Petersen.

A Private Family Memorial is being held on Saturday, June 12, 2021 at First Baptist Church. In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the First Baptist Church Foundations. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed on Joyce’s obituary at www.McInnisandHolloway.com.
