Obituary of Donna Avanell HUMPHRIES

Donna Humphries of Calgary, AB, passed peacefully into the presence of her Lord and Saviour on Thursday, June 10, 2021 at the age of 91 years.
Donna was born to Kenneth and Bertha Humphries on September 21, 1929, in Calgary, AB. She, along with her parents and three brothers were actively involved in both the Gospel Fellowship Hall, and later the Christian and Missionary Alliance communities. Throughout her adulthood, Donna was a most active member of First Alliance Church in Calgary, always very committed to the missionary enterprise of the Alliance. She generously supported missionaries both financially and with personal visits, travelling to various Alliance mission fields on five of the seven continents. Donna graduated from the Holy Cross School of Nursing in Calgary, in 1951. After working for several years in the pediatrics units at both Holy Cross and General Hospitals in Calgary, she went to Seattle Pacific University to pursue her Masters in Nursing. As part of her Masters degree, she wrote the nursing program that was initiated by the Foothills School of Nursing in Calgary. Donna eventually became Director of the Foothills School of Nursing from 1968-1989.
Donna is survived by her two brothers, Kenneth and James (Nancy) Humphries; her ten nieces and nephews, Terry (Terri-Lynn) Humphries, Brenda Humphries, Lynne (Donald) Kowalenko, Judy (Darrell) Young, Mike (Robin) Humphries, Dan (Sue) Humphries, Ben Humphries, Chad Humphries, Cody Humphries and Kyle (Samantha) Humphries; her eighteen great-nieces and nephews, and fifteen great-great-nephews and nieces, all of whom she considered her immediate family, the photo history of which she was the faithful curator.
Donna was predeceased by her parents, Kenneth and Bertha; her brother Hugh, and sister-in-law Shirley.
