Condolences
Our sympathy and condolences to Rod,Keith and Janice, Paul and Christie, Duncan and Graham. We share in your sadness and our thoughts are with you at this difficult time.
Karen had a zest for life with a caring and generous nature. I (Kathy) was proud to be her younger sister and we enjoyed many good times together while growing up and later when we had families of our own. She was a perfect hostess welcoming us into home.
Years ago Karen suffered a stroke which impacted her life greatly but she carried on the best she could with family care and support.
Goodbye Karen, may you now Rest In Peace. Love, Kathy and Fred.
A beautiful tribute to my dear sister and friend. I am so thankful for the support and loving care Rod and their family provided for Karen in her most difficult times. Many memories in my heart, my wardrobe, our home and pictures. We had wonderful , happy times together. Karen was a true shopper, always willing to share her time and sense of style and colour. Our families also shared so many treasured times through the years, memories forever. We extend our heartfelt condolences to Rod, Keith and Janice, Paul and Christie, Duncan and Graham now, as you recover from your great loss and live with the precious memory of life with your loved one. Love, always. Vivianne and Gordon
It is with a heavy heart that I send my condolences to Rod, Keith and Janice, Paul, Christie, Duncan and Graham. Karen was my older sister, friend and mentor. We had so many good times together with lots of laughs. It has been my great good fortune to have spent so much time with Karen and her family. The last 15 years have been such a struggle for Karen and the family dealing with the after effects of the stroke. She was well loved and well looked after. Thank you. Love to all. Vicki
Our sincere condolences to you Rod and your family on the passing of Karen. So unfortunate that we only had the opportunity to meet Karen on one occasion after she had suffered her stroke. She shared the loveliest smile, her kind and bright eyes and gave each of us a huge hug. God bless her and may she Rest in Peace. Your friends Terry and Matilda Meneghetti
Karen is remembered for her kindness, sense of humour and quick smile. Uncle Ed and Aunt Jo Henke very much enjoyed the visits from Karen and Rod passing through the “Hat” and we remember the warmth and hospitality received when we visited. Thank you.
Our sympathies to Rod, Keith, Paul and all the families.

My condolences to Rod, Paul, Keith, and your families. Karen and your family, were very special to my mom and dad, her Aunt Bernadette and Uncle Wilf, and our family. We were all so delighted when Karen became a summer resident of Windermere and we were blessed with Karen's energy, laughter and inspiration to go on more hikes and adventures in the Valley. My heart and thoughts are with your family and I hope that you find peace with Karen's passing.
Our deepest sympathies are with you Rod and family.
We remember Karen being happy and always smiling and fully enjoying life.
She always enjoyed our dinners together in Arizona and at the golf club.
She will be missed by a lot of good friends who cared for her.

The obituary really excels at describing Karen. In my early years Karen was a constant part of my life, as my Mom, Avis loved her niece Karen like a daughter and they had frequent get togethers. Laughter and fun were at the heart of their times together. It is easy to have happy memories of Karen as she always had a smile and a great sense of humour. Love to all the members of her family.

Rod, Paul and Keith. Our sincere condolences on the passing of Karen. We have special memories of Karen giving tea parties on your deck for Nicole when she was a little girl. She was a very kind and gracious lady and she was very fortunate to have all of you provide such good care for her in her final difficult years. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
To Rod, Keith, Paul and your families, I offer my deepest condolences on the passing of Karen.
My sincere condolences to Karen Gerla’s family! I knew Karen as a young girl but I too left my Theodore home to move to Edmonton. Vivianne was married to my brother Jack Stewart so through Vivianne I got to know her family in Invermay. Karen surely had a great spirit to combat her illnesses!
Thinking of you all with the passing of Karen. Your video and obituary captured her life so well. I always enjoyed my walks with Karen in the evenings, her humour and laugh were infectious. My son Carson had many fun weekends at the lake with Paul. Carson always came home saying "Mrs. Gerla had great meals!". I admired your family in how well Karen was looked after in her difficult last years.
Sincerely,
Florin Wolfer and family
