June 15, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta

Violet Olszewski (nee Trotz) of Calgary, AB, passed away on Tuesday, June 15, 2021 at the age of 99 years.

Violet, as she liked to be called by, was born in Burmis, AB on the family farm.  The daughter of John and Regina. Life was so much simpler then. She would often ride her horse into town to get supplies, whether it was sunny or raining. Work was done when all the chores for the day were complete. When she finished her schooling, she had a job driving a milk delivery truck for Pass Dairy. She also cared for her mother who was sick. She later became a hairdresser and owned a salon in Coleman. She married Linno Cezare Borsato, son of Marco and Cesare Borsato on August 14, 1943 at Holy Ghost Church in Coleman, AB.  However, their life together was brought to a tragic end when her husband Linno was killed serving Canada in the Second World War. She married Andrew Olszewski in 1949 in the Crowsnest Pass. In 1960, their house burned down and they relocated to Calgary where her husband was employed. Violet loved horseback riding, baking, talking with her sister Jenny, and gardening.

Violet is survived by her two sons, Brian Andrews and Jason Olszewski; daughter-in-law Evelyn Olszewski; four grandchildren, John Andrews, Danny Turkitch, Gillian Olszewski and Liam Olszewski; and her great-granddaughter Amanda Andrews. She will be sadly missed by all. Violet was predeceased by her parents, John and Regina; four brothers, Adolf, Joe, John and William; three sisters, Mary, Hellen and Jenny, her husband Andrew and her daughter-in-law Cecilia Andrews.
