Condolences
I’m sorry to hear of the passing of Wes Rabey. He was in institution in the seismic field and had it not been for his vision the many seismic brokers in Calgary would be working in other fields. The majority of the “old” brokers have all retired and are remembering Wes as the gentleman he was.

The passing of Wes was sad news for many of us "old timers " in the Calgary oil patch. He was an innovator whose contributions will not be forgotten . Wes hired me at Sigma Expl. in 1970 and gave me enough guidance and free rein to help build a successful company and a long rewarding carreer , for which I am truly grateful . I was the first " Barry " that he hired and we used to joke that it worked out so well that he went out and hired 3 more ! ( Korchinski , Giovonetto , Darrow ) . Wes also took me onto his curling teams , as a stud sweeper, for many Doodlespiels and Oilmans ( where he scored us a rare 8-ender) . Wes did invite me to play golf a few times with him at Earl Gray , up until I hit a few long drives off the roofs of neighboring homes , and then we just did lunches at the Petroleum Club. Wes will always be fondly remembered in my circles. Both my wife Lois and I send our heartfelt condolences to all the Rabey family
I first met Wes in 1973, and curled with him in the Doodlespiel for many years. The accolades for Wes are all accurate; he was a wonderful fellow and treated us "front-end" sweepers (Barry & me) very well :-). I have greatest respect for and memories of Wes. He was a credit to his family and to the CSEG. We shall all miss him. Rest in peace, Wes; you've left a great legacy!
Cheers, my friend.
My thoughts and prayers are with you all. I had the honor of working for Sigma for seven years. Wes was an approachable boss and I have always felt grateful that I had the opportunity to work for him.
We are saddened to hear of WES’s passing. He was a very special man who I had the honour of knowing and working for at Sigma for many years. He was always a profound thinker and a stern leader who always showed an interest in other’s lives and well being. Knowing Wes certainly made an impact on my life and made me look at life in a better way. Joyce and I always enjoyed chatting with Wes and Joan at the Sigma golf tournament and Christmas party. Our deepest condolences to Noel, Karen, and Warren.
