Obituary of Doreen Margaret Anne PEIRCE (nee Outhwaite)

January 5, 1936– Oxbow, Saskatchewan
June 19, 2021– Calgary, Alberta

Doreen Peirce, beloved wife of Ronald Peirce of Calgary, passed away on Saturday, June 19, 2021, at the age of 85 years.

Doreen was born in Oxbow, SK on January 5, 1936.  She moved from Oxbow to Winnipeg, MB to attend university. Doreen graduated from the University of Manitoba with two degrees (Home Economics and Education).  Upon graduation, Doreen moved to Calgary, AB. As a young woman, Doreen embraced her independence working as a junior high school teacher, driving her red convertible sports car and wearing all the latest fashions.

Doreen met Ron in Calgary and married him in 1962.  After she married Ron, Doreen chose to leave teaching to create a loving home for her family.  She was a talented seamstress who created beautiful clothes for herself and her daughters, as well as many home décor items that will remain family keepsakes for years to come.  Doreen also had a passion for cooking and became a self-taught gourmet chef who created delicious and memorable meals for family and friends.

Doreen and Ron raised their family in Calgary.  Over the years they spent many summers and family vacations at their vacation homes, first in Grand Marais, MB and then later at Schooner Cove on Vancouver Island.  Many happy family memories were made in both these places.

Doreen was a very private person who treasured her close relationships with the important people in her life. She was a wonderful person who will be deeply missed by those she held so close to her heart. Doreen will be most remembered for her unwavering devotion and loyalty to her family and the people she felt close to, her sense of humour and her wonderful laugh.

Besides her loving husband, Doreen is survived by her two daughters, Pamela (Jim) Campbell and Melanie Peirce; and one grandson Rhys Campbell, who all reside in Calgary; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Doreen was predeceased by her parents, Robert and Beatrice Outhwaite; four brothers, Jim, Jack, Bill and Don and one sister, Marion Drackett.

Condolences, memories and photos can be shared and viewed at www.mcinnisandholloway.com If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made in Doreen’s name to a charity of one’s choice.

Due to the uncertainty around Covid reopening, a Celebration of Doreen’s Life will be held at a later date (details TBD).

In living memory of Doreen Peirce, a tree will be planted in the Ann & Sandy Cross Conservation Area.
