Condolences
I have fond memory of many conversations I had with Ilabanata-da while we met primarily in many community gatherings. He was always very sincere, funny, constructively inquisitive and much pleasure to be with. I shall miss him. My family's condolence to Lali-di and the family. May his soul rest in peace. Om Shanti.
I got to know Dr Ilabanta da from BAC meetings and functions way back in 2002 when I came to Calgary. A fantastic person to talk to , a raconteur par excellence, we talked for hours during the Durga puja days and he lifted my depressed spirits as I was stuggling to get a break in the job market . After I got my break he congratulated me and was always encouraging in his words. I shall remain indebted to him forever. May his sould rest in peace . Om Shanti , Om Shanti , Om Shanti
I got to know Dr. Mukherjee through Bengali Association of Calgary. He was always very nice to me and blessed me whenever we met. When I was Board Member of Scenic Acres Community Association (neighborhood where he lived), I was fortunate to have his company in the Annual General Meetings.
I will always cherish the connection we had, his loads of good wishes and blessings which I received from in every interaction. To me he was someone special.
May his soul rest in peace. May God give fortitude to his family to bear this loss.

I am Pranab Sen, spent a memorable year, 1959-60, in RP Hall, IIT Kharagpur with our loved Ilada, while I was pursuing M TEch. I had met him and Boudi in Calcutta too in what I remember as her Rashbehari Avenue house. I wanted to go to his Ranaghat home but could not make it. Later Ilada and I had some exchange of letters. My condolences to the family.
My association with Dr. Ilabanta Mukherjee (he was always my favourite “Ilada”) dates back to 1959 while doing M.Tech at IIT Kharagpur. The bond that developed was a lifetime reward for me all these 60 years.
When he was doing his Ph.D at the Queen’s University in Belfast and I just finished M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering at UMIST, Manchester, he invited me to pay a visit there in 1966 which I did and enjoyed an unforgettable hospitality that Ilada and Boudi extended to me. It was on their advice that I stayed on in Manchester to complete my Ph.D in 1968. That visit was a life changer for me for which I am so much grateful to them.
A continuous connectivity just severed but his sweet memory will live on deep in my heart.
I pray for an eternal peace for his departed soul.
Love you Ilada!

I had the honour of being in one of Dr Mukherjee’s classes in the late 80s. I will never forget the smile he had on his face each day when he came into class. You could tell how much he truly loved teaching and how much he cared about his students. Going to his class was a joy and a privilege. My deepest sympathies to his family on the loss of such a wonderful man.
All of my recollections of Jim involve pleasant visits. He and Lali were always very welcoming. I have wonderful memories of staying up late on new Years and visiting Banff. There was always stimulating discussions going on.
Jim will be missed! Hugs John Karsch
