Obituary of John James GILMASTER

March 18, 1943 – Noranda Abitibi, Quebec
June 29, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of John Gilmaster of Calgary, AB, on Tuesday, June 29, 2021 at the age of 78 years, from complications of dementia.

John worked for Control Data Corporation for 18 years. John had many skills and could turn his hand to most challenges, especially electrical, computer repairs and carpentry.  He loved painting pictures of the scenery around Calgary and Banff. He especially loved curling and golfing.  He was a loyal and good friend, who will be most remembered for his carpentry skills and his ability to fix almost anything.

John will be missed by friend and companion Gail Prier, his sister, Vicky Thompson, his son Todd Gilmaster and his good friends, especially Sandy Knudsen. John was predeceased by his parents, Ernest Gilmaster and Marguerite Genest.

A service will be held in Sudbury, Ontario, at a later date. Condolences, memories and photos can also be shared and viewed here. We wish to thank Dr. Cran of Westglen Medical Center and the Doctors, Nurses and Staff of Bow Crest Care Center, Calgary, AB, for their care and kindness during his illness.
