Condolences
I had the privilege of knowing Rebecca for much of her professional career as a dietitian, meeting her for the first time as one of her preceptors during internship. She demonstrated an outstanding ability to be self-motivated and self-directed even then. During this time, Rebecca shared her fond memories of visits to Lake O'Hara with family, which led to me taking my own children. She was so right that despite the challenge with access, it was worth the effort to appreciate its awe-inspiring beauty. She contributed to getting true urbanites venturing out to enjoy nature. My most recent conversation with Rebecca was about her master's degree in epidemiology. My son, now grown, was contemplating the same field of study. Being the consummate professional, she shared her genuine experience so that others could make the most informed and best decision. She was sincere, trustworthy, and wonderful in so many ways. I will miss her and offer my deepest condolences.
Thank you to Rebecca’s family (and Rebecca) for allowing an online opportunity to view her funeral and tributes. I cherished my work friendship with Rebecca at FMC, as we have worked together since 2008. During Teresa’s part of the eulogy, I smiled when she told the story about Chestnut, as I shared an office with Rebecca during that time and I remember she proudly telling me of how she was going to keep the special kitty! Please accept my condolences - there will not be a day goes by at work when I will not think of Rebecca’s contributions to her profession and to our team. She will be dearly missed.
We had the pleasure of working with Rebecca at Carnival Cinemas. My condolences go out to Rebecca’s family. So sad to hear of her passing.

Brenda, Don and family,
I am so sorry for your loss of Rebecca. I watched the beautiful celebration of her life today and was overwhelmed by her accomplishments and the tributes to her. It was a wonderful ceremony acknowledging the influence and impact she had on so many lives. I know words will not ease the grief you are feeling and I cannot imagine the pain you are experiencing. The service today captured and shared the essence of Rebecca so well and I wanted to let you know what an incredible memorial it was. My condolences and prayers are with you in this very difficult time.

We are so saddened to read such heartbreaking news. We remember Rebecca, from GW Smith Elementary days, as being a quiet and happy girl. Reading about her life so far it’s clear she accomplished so much in such a short time - a remarkable life. Thinking of you all. Glen and Rhonda Thomlison
I was so very saddened to hear of Rebecca's passing. I had the pleasure of knowing Rebecca through university, working on our nutrition degrees together. We also ran a university supper club together for a few years. And I have very fond memories too of meeting up at Brenda's home, when Rebecca was visiting Red Deer, for supper and going in the hot tub. I'm sorry I wasn't able to attend the memorial in person (we recently welcomed our youngest daughter so couldn't travel today)- but I did join in on the livestream. It was a beautiful tribute service to her. She was so fortunate to have such a wonderful family and friends. And we were all so blessed to know her. I will keep you all in my prayers. With love, Kathleen Smith
Rebecca was a wonderful colleague. She always had time to help with difficult clinical cases. I looked forward to her homemade Christmas chocolates every year.
I had the pleasure to work with Rebecca on several projects and was honoured to supervise her Master’s degree. Rebecca managed her graduate work on top of working full time, produced a high quality thesis, all of which were considerable and challenging achievements. She was a positive spirit and a dedicated Dietitian who was always there to cheer up and assist others. She touched so many lives in such wonderful ways. I miss Rebecca. I send my sincere condolences to Rebecca’s family. I cannot imagine the depth of your loss.
I am so deeply sorry for your loss. Rebecca was one of a kind, always bringing people together with her kind spirit. I am very lucky to have known Rebecca for many years since she started at FMC shortly after me. We enjoyed chats after work and dietitian dinners together. She was such a caring and genuine friend. I will miss her for so many reasons and will continue to be inspired by her wisdom, integrity and strength. When in doubt, I will always wonder…what would Rebecca do. Miss her so much.
It was an honour to know you Rebecca. Thank you for your friendship. You are so strong and just an overall great person who did so much for the dietetic profession and in your personal life in your short time here: you have left many with memories to cherish! You are loved and missed. Deep sympathy extended to Rebecca's family and friends for this sad news.
Rebecca will be deeply missed by U37 and myself. She was a warm, compassionate person who brightened everyone’s day. I will miss her awesome costumes and the ridiculous amounts of candy she provided each holiday, despite being dietitian. She was a great colleague and friend and I will cherish all the memories I have of her. May she be at peace.
I worked with Rebecca in AHS in many different capacities including as a Manager and as part of her graduate committe. In all my interactions with Rebecca I saw a person with endless compassion for her patients and someone who had extraordinary energy and positivity. Her homemade chocolate, costumes, gingerbread houses, organizing of pot-lucks, scavenger hunts and so many other activities will be missed by all of us in Nutrition Services. She was here for far too short a time but her impact was great. My condolences to her family and friends on losing such a precious person far too soon.
Rebecca will be truly missed by her work family on Unit 37. She was such an incredible colleague and friend. I remember starting my journey on Unit 37 Rebecca was always was compassionate and had a heart of gold. She was devoted and dedicated to the staff and patients on the unit. She always took the time to listen and be available to the team. She always brightened up the unit on holidays (Christmas, Easter, Halloween) with a big smile on her face and of course always dressed up in costumes and giving out treats to patients and staff. This speaks volumes to the beautiful and amazing person that she is. She left us way too early it is a huge huge loss. My deepest condolences to her family. You are in my thoughts and prayers <3
I worked alongside Rebecca as a team with the renal patients she cared for. As a professional she was outstanding! As a colleague she was inspirational! As someone who was very private, I feel blessed she opened up and showed our little circle her outside work self. I am honoured to have called her a colleague and friend. You should all be proud of her.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Rebecca will be missed she was such an amazing colleague when I worked on unit 37. We got to learn so much from her and she was always so kind and patient with everyone.

Dear Brenda, Don, David, Sheila and Teresa. I was so saddened to read of Becky's passing. It has been many years since her kindergarten days when I was privileged to bring kindergarten to your home and get to know you all. Probably also many years since she went by Becky. She was a special person then who grew up to do great things. Definitely gone too soon. Keeping you all in my prayers.

I worked with her for many years on Unit 57 and always appreciated the time she took to say hello and ask how I was. She was an amazing dietitian who advocated for her patients and demonstrated exemplary professionalism.

She always made time to listen about any dietary concerns of our patients and always livened up the unit by dressing up for Halloween and Christmas and giving out treats to patients and staff. I only knew Rebecca for a short time while working together at FMC. Rebecca was so kind, friendly and welcoming. She began the day with stories, updating us on the daily news, weather and stories of her pet. She made me smile daily. Rebecca touched the lives of so many. My condolences to family, friends and coworkers.
Dear Don, Brenda, David, Sheila, and Teresa,
I am so sorry for your unbearable loss of Rebecca - I still find it hard to believe that she is no longer with us but feel blessed to have known her. I have wonderful memories of rollerblading down the river pathway.....skating around Bowness lagoon and enjoying a few hikes together including seeing the beautiful gold larches and Healy Pass. Another favourite memory is taking a walk with Rebecca and my little girl Anna whereby Rebecca picked her flowers and she so enjoyed holding them throughout the walk. The only other person to pick her flowers is her grandmother. Prior to Covid, we enjoyed many dinners together with our Dietitian Divas group and Rebeca would fill us in on her travel adventures. These are memories that I will cherish forever....I miss her dearly but carry her around in my heart and soul. The world is a better place because you were in it Rebecca. You are loved and missed - always.
