Obituary of Corazon Milagros Rosas REYES

June 19, 1925 – Pasay City, Philippines
July 1, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta

Corazon Milagros Rosas Reyes, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully at home on July 1, 2021, at the age of 96. 

Corazon is survived by her children, Agnes Sardiñas, Edna (Danny) Batuyong, Nel (Tom) Matys and Joy (Manny) Antolin; her grandchildren, Dianne (Sean), Eldridge (Kathy), Eugene, Teresa (Jack), Tanya (Stephan), Jesse (Rebecca), Joseph (Sherry), Matthew (Rae-Lyne), and Michael (Jessica); her great-grandchildren, Xander, Zoey, Helena, Julian, Quinn and Eden; and the Rosas family in the United States and the Philippines. 

Corazon was predeceased by the love of her life, Jesus “Jess” Avenir Reyes, her husband of 68 years; her daughter Cynthia Carmen Rosas Reyes; son-in-law Adriano Sardiñas; parents, Gregorio “Oyong” Rosas and Rita Banuelos Rosas; siblings, Jose “Peping” Rosas, Emeterio “Metring” Rosas, Jesus Anthony Rosas and Carmelo “Meling” Rosas.

Corazon, also known as Cora, graduated from St. Paul University in Manila, Philippines. On June 3, 1981, Cora immigrated to Canada with her husband, Jess, and three daughters Agnes, Nel, and Joy, to be with her other daughter, Edna and her family in Calgary, AB. A lady with strong traditions and beliefs, Cora made sure to travel and visit various places to check off her list, was devout to her faith, and loved her family deeply. Cora was a pianist who loved to tickle the ivories and would display true elegance with every performance. She enjoyed everything to do with music and would teach anyone who showed interest, particularly her grandchildren. Corazon Milagros Rosas Reyes was a simple woman, but the grief we feel for her passing is not so simple. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Relatives and friends are invited to McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Park Memorial, 5008 Elbow Drive S.W. Calgary, AB) on Thursday, July 8, 2021 from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. with Prayers starting at 7:00 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church (5340 – 4th Street S.W., Calgary, AB) on Friday, July 9, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. Graveside service to follow at Eden Brook Memorial Gardens. Concluded with a reception at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church.
