Obituary of William Arnold NELSON

Bill Nelson, of Calgary, AB, passed away on Tuesday, July 6, 2021 at the age of 79 years. 

Bill was born in Calgary on September 14, 1941, growing up on 33 Street in Killarney.  Bill and Donna married in 1961, remaining in Calgary, raising their children in Lake Bonavista.  Bill spent his spare time coaching hockey and ringette, as well as camping, travel and golf.  He worked at Western Rock Bit Ltd. for over 35 years, and enjoyed many friendships with his co-workers.  In his later years Bill volunteered on the Board of Directors at Millrise Point.

Bill is survived by two children, Audra Nelson of Calgary; Greg Nelson and wife Coreen; grandchildren, Charlie, Oliver, and Maggie all of of Innisfail, AB; and former spouse Donna Nelson.  He is also survived by a sister, Diana Reece of Calgary; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Bill was predeceased by his daughter Glenda Leigh Nelson, parents, Ruth and Norrie Nelson; sister, Patricia O’Connell; brother-in-law Warren O’Connell; and nephew David O’Connell.

A Celebration of Bill’s Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Chapel Of The Bells, 2720 Centre Street North, Calgary, AB) on Thursday, July 15, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park cemetery.  Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home.  Condolences, memories and photos may be shared and viewed on Bill’s obituary at www.McInnisandHolloway.com.
