Obituary of George Christian LORENZ

November 11, 1932 – Val Marie, Saskatchewan
July 3, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta

George Christian Lorenz, beloved husband of Simone Lorenz (nee Cloutier), of Calgary, AB, passed away on Saturday, July 3, 2021 at the age of 88 years.

Besides his loving wife Simone, George is survived by his beloved sister Brigetta “Betty” Mailhot, stepbrother and sister-in-law, Danny and Pauline Lorenz; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and supportive in-laws and their families. George was predeceased by his sister Jeanette Wagner who passed away seven years ago.

George had a long career for United News and was passionate about his mastery of maintaining a beautiful home. He favoured the solitude of working on the task at hand. He loved looking his best for formal functions. His early work, as a young man, was in a men's clothing store where he acquired his taste for well-designed suits.

One of George and Simone’s pastimes was entertaining with their friends, and taking in a night of dancing, or a night of socializing with family.

George and Simone, his devoted wife enjoyed yearly travel trips. Their trips took them to visit family in Saskatchewan and British Columbia. They had numerous adventures to Hawaii and Florida, and enjoyed a long vacation to Europe where they explored France and Germany. George relished his time with Simone’s extended family.

George was close to his sister Betty who he had regular contact with throughout his life. She was of great comfort, this was especially noted in his early and then in his later years.

It was a blessing to have Simone and George reunited at Brentwood Nursing Home prior to his passing. George was so taken with Simone, complementing how beautiful she was in the last week before his death. They were committed to each other until the end.

Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Crowfoot, 82 Crowfoot Circle NW, Calgary, AB) on Thursday, July 22, 2021 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Name Catholic Church (2223 – 34th Street S.W., Calgary, AB) on Friday, July 23, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery (3157 Erlton St SW, Calgary, AB).  Condolences, memories and photos may be shared and viewed on George’s obituary at www.McInnisandHolloway.com.

Following the Funeral Mass at the church a lunch box will be provided for those in attendence  as you exit the church.
