Obituary of Helly SALLOUM

April 28, 1953 – Jib Jannine, Lebanon
July 7, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta

Helly Salloum, beloved wife of Louis Salloum of Calgary, AB, passed away on Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at the age of 68 years.

Helly was born in Jib Jannine, Lebanon on April 28, 1953. She immigrated to Calgary, Canada in 1976. Helly married Lou Salloum on January 15, 1977. Helly had a passion for cooking and baking for others and loved to spend time with her family especially on Christmas holidays. She was always giving in any way she could and was always there for anyone who needed her. As her daughters grew older she began working outside the home and enjoyed her work as a Food Demo Representative for many years. Helly’s most memorable vacation was when she and Lou treated their two daughters and families on a trip to Maui, Hawaii. All the grandchildren still talk about it until this day as it was their most favourite trip as a family. Helly’s favourite saying to her family was “Sahten” (in Arabic means “To your health”) and would say this often, even up until her passing “Take care of your body and health”. She often told her daughters and grandchildren to “ stay close to your family” as family was so important to her. She will be most remembered for her kindness, generosity and loving heart. Helly was a forgiving person who never held a grudge and tried to think positive of any situation.

Besides her loving husband, Helly is survived by her two daughters, Sacha Dooley and Jessica Boal and both sons-in-law, Adam Dooley and Chad Boal of Calgary, AB; four grandchildren, Avian, Tayla, Shaw and Akeelah of Calgary, AB; her four brothers, Sleiman (Aziza), Salim (Rita), George (Cris) and Elias (Yolla) Daklala; and one sister, Georgette Khouri (Riad) all of Calgary, AB; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She is also survived by her mother Halweh Abboud of Jib Jannine, Lebanon.
