Obituary of Marie Lora DAYUS

March 22, 1928 – Radway, Alberta
July 6, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta

After a long difficult battle with Dementia and Alzheimer’s, Marie passed away peacefully on July 6, 2021 at Age Care Walden Heights in Calgary, AB at the age of 93 years. 

Marie was born in Radway, AB. It's like she made a full circle of life in Alberta. She married Ted Crawford and raised three beautiful daughters, later having six children of their own, together. Their hands were full for many years on the homestead in High Prairie, AB. After Ted’s sudden death at the age of 65, Marie found more happiness than she could have ever have hoped for with Sidney Dayus. They had so many Joyous years together until his passing.
 
Marie was full of laughter, always having a smart, quick answer back that caught you off guard and made you smile. Marie and Sid put so many miles on their legs, vehicles and motorhome to spend time with family and best friends, just so they could keep in touch with everyone.

Travelling gave Marie the opportunity to shop. New town, new stores to look in; and oh how she loved to look in stores! Marie also loved to volunteer with the Ladies Auxiliary, cooking for those huge Christmas dinners, luncheons and fundraisers. 

Marie said knitting and crocheting were good for her arthritic hands. She would sit down to visit, watch her shows and movies, which she loved, she would make blankets, sweaters, socks, baby outfits, hats, and so much more. At one time or another she made everyone something throughout the years!

I loved going to the Legion with Mom and Sid in whatever little town we might have been in. I feel the fondest memory of mom (Marie, Molly). She always dressed too proper and fancy. “Dressed to the nines,” we would say. Jewelry, shoes, purse, hat, and coat all to match the season. What style she had. I will truly miss seeing her this way.

Marie will be missed by her four sons, five daughters, twenty-two grandchildren, thirty-six great-grandchildren, and fifteen great-great-grandchildren.
