Obituary of Eileen Gladys JENKINS (nee Henry)

February 18, 1946 - Whitewood, Saskatchewan

July 8, 2021 - Calgary, Alberta

Eileen Jenkins of Calgary, AB, beloved wife of the late Preston Jenkins of 28 years, passed away on Thursday, July 8, 2021 at the age of 75 years.

Eileen was born in Whitewood, SK on February 18, 1946. Eileen spent her time growing up between Kennedy, SK on the farm and in the mining town of Geraldton, ON. While in Geraldton Eileen was very involved with the Girl Guides, eventually becoming a Guide Leader. She organized and led many trips to Guide Camps, especially to Polly Lake, ON. Once she completed high school at Geraldton Composite High Eileen continued her schooling in Winnipeg, MB for secretarial studies. She then moved to Calgary in 1969 where she met, and eventually married, Preston in 1972. Once her two boys were school age, Eileen started working for the Calgary Board of Education and over the course of over 25 years worked at Glenbrook Elementary and A.E. Cross Junior High School.

Eileen (aka Gramma J, Mrs. J) will be remembered for many things: proud mother, proud grandmother, biggest hug-giver, baker of delicious cookies and muffins, marathon phone calls with friends and family, talented crocheter/seamstress, always willing to lend a hand,  and always having a big warm smile.

Eileen is survived by her two sons and their wives, Wade (Jodi Lea) Jenkins, Kent (Kim) Jenkins; and her five grandchildren, Sierra, Veronica, Ethan, Alexis and Hayley all of Calgary, AB. Eileen is also survived by her sister Adele (Hugh) Winslow of Tasmania, Australia; brother Blain (Pat) Henry of Thunder Bay, ON, as well as numerous sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends.

Eileen was predeceased by her parents Edward and Aurora Henry of Geraldton, ON.

The family of Eileen Jenkins would like to give a special thank you to the doctors, nurses, and staff of the Foothills Hospital in Calgary in the Emergency Department, Unit 103, and Unit 94 for their unbelievable professionalism, care and concern while Eileen was under their care.
