Obituary of Calvin (Cal) STEVENSON

Cal Stevenson, beloved husband of Lynn Stevenson of Calgary, AB, passed away on Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at the age of 68 years after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's Disease.

Cal was born in Grande Prairie, AB. He attended high school in Grande Prairie and moved on to attend NAIT in Edmonton. Cal was a Brewster Bus driver and tour guide in Banff and Jasper Parks for 6 years before he moved back to Grande Prairie in 1977.  He then began his career at the P&G Pulp and Paper Mill. Cal retired from Weyerhaeuser Pulp Mill after 33 years of service in 2009. 

Cal enjoyed being involved in the community and volunteered on the Odyssey House Woman’s Shelter Board for over 10 years.  He was also a member of the Boyd Lakeshore Properties Board for many years. He had several rental properties over 35 years which he was particularly good at fixing up to rent.

Cal was a great husband, father, and friend. He was a very kind, hardworking and compassionate person who loved to help others. He enjoyed the outdoors including camping, fishing, hunting, swimming, riverboating and sailing. He especially loved spending time at the family cabin at Sturgeon Lake where there were many celebrations and gatherings with loved ones over almost 30 years. He spent his winters curling and ice fishing as well as travelling with family and friends. Dogs were a very important part of his life, having had 4 poodles, one always by his side.

Besides his loving wife, Cal is survived by his son Riley Cody Stevenson and fiancée Jessica Mapes and their newborn son Casey, as well as his daughter Tannis Edena Stevenson, her fiancé Omar Langford and their 11 month old daughter Kyrah. He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Rod and Irene Stevenson and his sister Lori Kolacz. Cal was predeceased by his parents, Ena and Fred Stevenson; and brother-in-law Neil Kolacz.
