Obituary of Jim William BLACK

November 1, 1996 – Calgary, Alberta
July 13, 2021– Calgary, Alberta

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved son, Jim William Black, of Siksika Nation, AB, on Tuesday, July 13, 2021, at the age of 24 years.

Jim was protective and caring to those he loved and cherished. He had a great sense of humour, a beautiful smile and a huge heart. Jim was an outgoing leader and had a style and swagger of his own that made him stand out. The family is overwhelmed with the many stories of how he impacted the lives of people around him by building them up with his encouragement and understanding.

He loved to dance, he was cheeky, argue-but-gotta-love-him, caring, has-your-back, loving guy that pumped up the people around him. Jim followed in his dad’s footsteps in his love for horses and was a skilled horseman. He was a hardworker with natural talent in carpentry and roofing that often had family and friends requesting for his special skills on projects.

He leaves to mourn his mom Carla Waterchief; his sister Meryl (Jack), Bella; his wife Angel; his boys, Kane, Trevor and Quiet Storm (Innspapaonokiiksisstsiko); his nieces and nephews, Aniko, Shadessa, Taylor, Carlin, Taige, JT Laine & Margo; his grandpa Billy Black; maternal aunties and uncles, Raymonda, Ernest, Lorelee, Gina, Wesley, Leandra (Boyce), Beryl, Shane (Melanie), Tracy, Ira (Lydia), Mitch (Delores), Gina (Lance), Bertina (Tom), Avery; paternal aunties and uncles, Michele, Wanda, Douglas, Cheryl (Dean), Melveen; and numerous cousins, extended families of the Waterchief, Big Bull, McHugh, Wadsworth, Black, McMaster, Olds/Old Woman families. The family would like to apologize to the families too numerous to mention.

Jim was predeceased by his father Stacy Black; brother TJ Waterchief; maternal grandparents Raymond and Reverend Margaret Waterchief; paternal grandma Joanne Black.
