Condolences
Uploaded By: Glencoe Club Aquafit
The 8 AM Glencoe Club Aquafit group were very saddened to hear of Ev’s passing. Ev was a longstanding member of early morning Aquafit. As with all of the sports in which she participated, she was hugely dedicated. Her dedication remained well into her 80s, when she arrived by cab even on cold winter mornings, providing inspiration to all of us We will all fondly remember her beautiful smile, her willingness to participate in all special events, and her conversations during our after swim coffee sessions. We send our heartfelt condolences to her family, and hope that the many wonderful memories that Ev created will help comfort you during this difficult time.
Patricia and family,
My sincere condolences to Patricia and family. I had the privilege of knowing both Evelyn and Darol and their concern for others and their generous nature was always something that humbled me. Simply put, they changed the lives of so many people, many of whom they never met. My thoughts are with you Patricia and your family.
Ron, Melissa and family
Sincere condolences on the passing of Ev, and our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time of loss. The obituary was a fitting tribute to Ev's life and her contribution to family, the community, and scholastic endeavours of various universities..
We spent many eloquent and informative times with both Ev and Darol, and I have been a long time ardent admirer of Ev's tennis prowess, both at the Calgary Tennis Club and subsequently at the Glencoe.
She will be missed.

Pat, Ron and family,
I think of Ev often, especially when I’m at my locker. I would see her most mornings and we would always chat, many times about my parents with whom they were good friends. She was one of two very strong women geologists I knew well before their times. She will be missed.
Sue
Ron, Melissa and family:
We were very sorry to read of your loss, and simply wanted to offer our sincere sympathy.
The obituary eloquently tells the story of an accomplished and remarkable life, that also included a happy family and “giving back” to others.
Our thoughts are with you.
Sincerely,
Mike & Renae Tims
Ron and Pat, your mom was a great friend to so many. Gerry and I enjoyed spending time with your parents and your mom and I would always get a chuckle out of “ the boys table” in the old coffee shop. They thought they ran the world from that table and she and I knew they didn’t! We spent many afternoons sitting at our table drinking tea and eating cookies and discussing the world. And then of course there was the pool. She and I were regulars along with several others. We all miss her and think so fondly of her. Thinking of you and your families, Marguerite
It was beautiful to read of Evelyn's remarkable life in the Calgary Herald.
I wonder how many girls remember the people they babysat for in their teens?
Our family lived just around the corner from Evelyn and Darol on 57th Avenue in the fifties and I was their babysitter. And I remember Evelyn fondly as a kind mother who treated me very well.
I knew nothing more about Evelyn until I read the obituary and learned about her impressive contributions to society and our community. A life well lived!
My sincere condolences to Patricia and Ron on the loss of your mom. May she rest in peace.
Nell Smith (nee Nieboer)
My parents Jack and Marie Sazie (both deceased) were good friends with Ev and Darol in the 1990s. I do not know where or when they met, but I do recall them often dining together.
My parents enjoyed robust conversation and they found kindered spirits in Ev and Darol.
I met Ev and Darol twice and found them to be warm, friendly and kind. I remember them very well though these meetings were long ago. They definitely left a lasting impression.
I knew some of what was written in the obituary about Ev but I am blown away by all she accomplished and with such dedication. She led a full and fulfilling life. And her legacy carries on.
I am sorry for the loss of this remarkable woman.. My deepest condolences to family and friends.
To Ron, Melissa and Pat. We are so sorry for your loss. Teresa and John Carruthers and family
So sorry to see the news of Ev’s passing. My condolences to Ron & Missy and Pat and your extended families. Ev was a true champion who raised champions. No doubt life was more of a struggle following Darrell‘s passing in 2009, but Ev persevered and was still a fixture at the Glencoe club for many years. Ev was a great contributor to the Glencoe Club, as an athlete, parent and club historian and one can only hope she will be recognized by the club in some fashion.
