Obituary of Nguyen VUONG
September 17, 1930 – July 21, 2021
Calgary, Alberta
We are deeply saddened to announce that Mr. Nguyen Vuong passed away at the age of 90, on July 21, 2021. He’s survived by his wife, Tran Thuc Truong, their 11 children, 28 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren.
He was born in Fujian, China (Quanzhou city, Jinjiang County) to Mr. and Mrs. Hieu Thuan Vuong. Nguyen was raised with one younger brother. He worked at a farm in China at the age of 7, just so his mom had one less mouth to feed. When he earned enough food to bring home, he would walk through the mountains, day and night, just to see his family. Nguyen continued to work from place to place, and at the age of 18, he escaped to Vietnam.
Nguyen got married at the age of 25 and started a recycling business at the age of 26. At the age of 54, he and his family emigrated from Vietnam to Calgary, AB, Canada where he continued to work to support his family. While working, he and his friends helped to establish the Calgary Fujian Association. That was one of his fondest and proudest moment. In his retirement, he loved to spend time traveling with his family and his friends at the Fujian Association.
Nguyen was a loving, compassionate, hard-working and caring son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. His presence has been greatly missed and will be lovingly remembered by his family, friends and all of Fujian community.
Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Chapel Of The Bells, 2720 Centre Street North, Calgary, AB) on Thursday, August 5, 2021, from 3pm to 7pm, and Friday, August 6, 2021, from 3pm to 7pm.
Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Chapel Of The Bells, 2720 Centre Street North, Calgary, AB) on Saturday, August 7, 2021, at 9am. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery. Condolences, memories, and photos can also be shared and viewed here.
