Obituary of Salvatore Iannuzzi
October 26, 1935 - Roggiano Gravina, Cosenza, Italy
July 29, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta
Salvatore Iannuzzi, beloved husband of Maria Iannuzzi (nee Argento), of Calgary, AB passed away on Thursday, July 29, 2021 at the age of 85 years.
Salvatore was born in Roggiano Gravina, Cosenza, Italy on October 26, 1935. At a young age, he worked on farms and later in construction, helping to support his family. Salvatore and Maria were married on November 16, 1957. Together, they immigrated to Canada in 1966, to make a better life for their family.
After settling in Calgary, Salvatore began working for Canadian Pacific Railway in 1966 in track maintenance, retiring in 1994. Salvatore’s proudest achievement was his family, and he worked hard to ensure they were provided for. Throughout his life, Salvatore had a passion for his garden, often sharing his harvests with his children. He also enjoyed making wine, fishing, lawn bowling and riding his bike.
Besides his loving wife, Maria, Salvatore is survived by his five sons, Tony (Linda), Peter (Susan), Mario, Carlo (Heidi) and Joe (Mina); and his daughter Isabella (Cam), all of Calgary, AB; his six grandchildren, Kaitlin (James) of Toronto, ON, and Sean (Reagan), Jordan (Jenelle), Paul, Sebastian and Cinzia, all of Calgary, AB. Salvatore is also survived by his brothers, Francesco (Lina) of Calgary, AB, Luigi and Domenico of Italy; and sisters, Maria of Italy and Rosa of France.
Salvatore was predeceased by his infant son Paolo, his parents, Isabella Maiarota and Antonio Iannuzzi; brother Ferdinando, and sisters, Maria Carmela and Emilia; and his brother-in-law Luigi Quintieri.
Due to Covid-19, A Private Family Service will be held. A special thanks to the staff of Father Lacombe Nursing Home for taking such good care of Dad for so many years.
