Obituary of Mary Catherine GIUFFRE

Mary was born and raised in Toronto and was the youngest of six children. She moved to Calgary with her husband Joe and her eldest son Martin during the summer of 1955. Calgary quickly became her “home town” where she actively brought up her seven children. Mary embraced her community and friends throughout her life. She was instrumental in bringing bilingual French schools into Calgary. Mary was an active member of the Glencoe Club in Calgary and quite enjoyed her active lifestyle using the club facilities. She loved attending and supporting ballet, opera, and various other cultural and social events. She enjoyed sports and was a long-time fan of the Stampeders and Flames teams through the years. Mary particularly loved the yearly Calgary Stampede, attending the rodeo and chuckwagon races with regularity and enthusiasm. She loved to travel with her husband, seeing a great part of the world with exciting ventures, trips, cruises, and vacations that opened her world to the lives of others. Her favourites included Europe and Hawaii, especially when the destinations included those that were so important to her, her family and friends.
