Obituary of Italia CRISANTI (nee DiEugenio)
June 1, 1930 – Teramo, Italy
August 3, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Italia Crisanti, nee DiEugenio, on Tuesday, August 3, 2021 at the age of 91. Italia passed away peacefully with her family by her side after a long life battling various illnesses.
Italia was born in Teramo, Italy where she met and married her husband Mario Crisanti. In 1960, they moved to Calgary to join Mario’s brother Fausto and sisters Edda and Adriana and in search for a better life.
Italia was a proud homemaker who always enjoyed cooking for her family and friends. Italia was an amazing cook, baker, pasta and bread maker. She was such a perfectionist in the kitchen. No meal ever tasted as good as hers did.
Italia will be dearly missed by her loving husband, Mario; daughter Carla, sons Lucien (Linda), Domenic (Antonella), and Steve (Shelly); grandchildren Carlos (Priscila), Jennifer (Saverio), Jason (Melinda), David (Marielle), Meghan (David), Stephanie (Darcy), Brianne, Alexandra (Ryan), Matthew and Melissa. As well as her ten great-grandchildren, those whom she was most proud of and had the opportunity to meet and watch grow up. She also leaves to mourn family in Italy which includes her last living sister Maria Luisa (Gino), as well as many nieces and nephews. Italia was predeceased by her parents, Domenico and Laura, and sisters Concetta (Enrico), Nina (Armando), younger siblings Olga and Livio, son-in-law Angelo Perez and many extended family.
Italia will be remembered as a loving and dedicated wife, kind, funny, compassionate and generous sister, sister in law, mother, Nonna, and friend. She loved with all of her heart and was loved deeply and respected by her family and friends.
Those wishing to pay their respects may do so prior to the service at 10:00 a.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Mary, Mother of the Redeemer Parish (1714 – 14th Avenue N.E., Calgary, AB) on Friday, August 6, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. Reception to follow at the Church Hall. Family will be having a private ceremony at the Mausoleum. Condolences, memories and photos can also be shared and viewed here. Italia was so proud and honored to have lived a life blessed with children.
