Obituary of Emilio Falcione
October 31, 1929 – Rivisondoli, Abruzzo, Italy
August 4, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta
It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of Emilio Arturo Falcione on Wednesday, August 4, 2021 at the age of 91.
Emilio was born on October 31, 1929 in Rivisondoli, Abruzzo, Italy.
In 1958, he was sponsored by his younger sister Benilda and her husband Nicolino Monaco to come to Canada to begin an exciting new life in Calgary. Here he met his beautiful wife Joan and they spent sixty-one years together. They had three children whom he adored, Marco (Cathy) Falcione, Serra Falcione, and Lisa (Tony) Spoletini. Emilio was also blessed with five grandchildren, Lucas and Sarina Falcione, Giancarlo, Domenic and Matteo Spoletini. He treasured spending time with them and was overjoyed by their many accomplishments.
Emilio was a proud man with an incredible work ethic. He owned a men’s hairstyling shop where he bantered and entertained customers with his infectious personality. He loved picnicking at Bowness Park with family and friends, playing bocce and sharing laughs with plenty of food and wine. Emilio enjoyed the old variety shows, opera, crooners and a night or two at the track. He was also a proud member of the Alpini D’Italia, an elite corps of the Italian Military.
Even at 91, Emilio amazed those around him with his boyish good looks, positive attitude and lust for life. His love and passion for family, friends and living life will always be cherished by those who knew him.
Emilio is survived by his loving wife Joan, his son Marco (Cathy), his daughters, Serra and Lisa (Tony) Spoletini; as well as his grandchildren, Sarina, Giancarlo, Domenic and Matteo. He is also survived by his sister Benilde Monaco, sisters-in-law, Giaconda and Lina; brother-in-law Larry MacKay, as well as his nephews and nieces.
Emilio was predeceased by his parents, Alberto and Elisabetta; grandson Lucas, older brothers, Pasqualino and Antonio; parents-in-law, Walter and Lydia Corbett; brother-in-law Nicolino Monaco; sister-in-law Carole MacKay, and nephew Roberto.
Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Chapel Of The Bells, 2720 Centre Street North, Calgary, AB), on Monday, August 16, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. Condolences, memories and photos may be shared and viewed here.
