Patricia Collins (nee Berry)

Obituary of Patricia Collins (nee Berry)

Pat Collins of Calgary, AB, passed away on Saturday, August 7, 2021, at the age of 80 years.

She leaves to mourn her two daughters Carol (Ken) and Katherine (Doug), her four grandchildren Angela (Mike), Kristina (Cody), John, Rachel (Branden) and one great grandson Elias.   She has also left to mourn her very close friend David. She was predeceased by her husband of 28 years Peter (John) Collins and her parents Enid and Chester Berry.

Pat was an only child, born in Edmonton Alberta on January 5, 1941.  She started working at AGT when she was finished school and it was there, she met her first husband Bob. They had two daughters before divorcing in 1976. Pat moved to Calgary in 1978 where she would later meet John. They were married in July 1986. They were together until he passed away in 2014.

Pat’s time was spent at the mall having lunch with her friends and she also enjoyed going to the Legion on the weekends and listening to live music and dancing. She also enjoyed coloring and had more colors of pencil crayons than you could imagine. Pat was very social and loved visiting and chatting with everyone she came in contact with.  Pat also loved to travel but unfortunately didn’t do as much of that as she would’ve liked.  Her favorite vacation was a cruise her and John took to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.   Pat loved animals and always had a cat or dog for companionship.

Pat moved around a lot growing up as her Dad was in the Air Force, they lived in Vulcan, Drumheller, Camrose, Calgary and Edmonton. She was very close to her Grandpa and Grandma Thompson as they all lived together. She was Daddy’s little girl and had a wonderful relationship with him. She was devastated when he passed away in 2003.

Pat you will be sadly missed by your friends and family. We are relieved you are at peace and not suffering any longer.  We will treasure all our memories of you and we will never forget you.

The family wishes to express our heartfelt thanks to the staff at The Newport Harbour Care Center for their loving care of Pat during her stay there.

A private interment will be held with her immediate family at Queens Park Cemetery on August 29th, 2021. Condolences, memories and photos can also be shared and viewed here.
