Obituary of Steve Armstrong

October 8, 1963 –Toronto, Ontario
August 6, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta

It is with profound sadness that the family of Steve Armstrong of Calgary, AB, announce his sudden passing on Friday, August 6, 2021 at the age of 57 years.

Steve had a kind heart, a smile that could light up your soul, and lived life in full throttle. He always remembered important dates when it came to his family and friends. He excelled at all sports including hockey, football (his photo was published in the Montreal Gazette), rugby, and skiing, eventually becoming a ski patroller. Steve loved rock climbing and hiking mountains in Alberta and Colorado. He earned his pilot’s license and when that wasn’t enough, he took up sky diving, base jumping, and swooping. When his feet were on the ground, you’d find him racing cars and four-wheel driving. The ultimate daredevil, Steve also had a soft and gentle side and his need for adventure will be forever remembered. He loved to share his many passions with his nephews, friends, and family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Steve will be missed by his mother Marilyn Erb, and siblings, Debby (Peter) and Kerry (Val) all of Calgary, AB; Hans (Jessie) of Montreal, QC; Kirby (Megan), Mitch (Melissa), Derek, and Katrina, all of Vancouver, BC. Steve was close to his nephews Chris (Karen), Nick (Ana) and Russ (Stine Marie), Grayson and niece Makenna. Most of all he loved his cats, Keyla and Minya, they were his world. Steve was predeceased by his father Ron Armstrong.

A Private Celebration of Steve’s Life will be held at a later date. Cremation has taken place. Condolences, memories and photos can also be shared and viewed here.
